Dmitry Govseev on young doctors: they are different, and that is pleasantly surprising

Dmitry Govseev, director of the Kyiv Perinatal Center, said he admires today’s youth and refuted the widespread myth that you cannot have a career in medicine without money and connections. He spoke about this in an interview with the YouTube channel "Komersant Ukrainian".

“It’s nice to see that today’s youth are better than we were. Because they are fluent in foreign languages. They can find what we were looking for, not in years, but in days or weeks, in the library. And today, they can find it with one click and even tell us about it. I really like that,” he says.

At the same time, the head of the center refuted a common myth about becoming an obstetrician-gynecologist and career opportunities in Ukraine. During a quick interview, when asked if “obstetricians-gynecologists can only earn good money in private clinics or abroad,” he replied briefly: “myth.”

He reacted just as categorically to the thesis that it is impossible for a young specialist in Ukraine to become a good obstetrician-gynecologist without connections: “No, that’s not true.”

As [Komersant], the proportion of births among women aged 40 in Ukraine remains small – less than 10%.
