Starting January 1, the state grant program “Own Business” will be expanded to include war veterans, as well as parents, adult children and families of fallen Ukrainian defenders. This was announced by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

According to the head of government, the updated program provides for increased financial support for the development of veteran entrepreneurship and the creation of new jobs.

Grants of up to UAH 1 million subject to job creation

Svyrydenko noted that program participants will be able to receive a grant of up to UAH 1 million if the business project involves the creation of new jobs.

“We are expanding the Own Business program for veterans and family members of fallen defenders. Provided that new jobs are created, the grant amount can reach UAH 1 million,” the Prime Minister said.

Part of the “Made in Ukraine” policy

Veterans’ grants are part of the government’s “Made in Ukraine” program for the development of Ukrainian producers. They are aimed at supporting small and medium-sized businesses set up by veterans and their families.

The program provides funding in the following amounts

  • uAH 250 thousand to start or scale up a business;
  • up to UAH 1 million for creating additional jobs.

The funds can be used to purchase equipment, rent premises, raw materials, and develop production or services.

How many veterans have already taken advantage of the program

According to Yulia Svyrydenko, in 2025 alone, 1,553 veterans and their families used veterans’ grants. This helped create more than 2,800 new jobs across Ukraine.

“This is a real support for people who defended the country or lost loved ones in the war, and at the same time, it is a contribution to the development of the Ukrainian economy,” she emphasized.

How to apply for a veteran grant

You can apply for the program

  • via the Diia app;
  • at employment centers at the place of residence.

After submitting an application, business projects are evaluated, and if approved, applicants receive funding to develop their own business.

Supporting veterans as an economic priority

The expansion of the “Own Business” program is part of the government’s strategy to reintegrate veterans into civilian life and create conditions for their economic independence.

The government expects that veteran entrepreneurship will become one of the drivers of economic recovery in the post-war period.
