Bread may rise significantly in price in Ukraine by the end of the year

Bread may become more expensive in Ukraine due to the power outage, but so far, producers have not raised prices for this basic product.

Oleksiy Puchkov, vice president of the All-Ukrainian Association of Bakers, told this in a commentary to Telegraph, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

According to the expert, over the past 6 months, prices for rye flour have almost doubled in Ukraine, and wheat flour has increased by 30%.

In October, flour prices stabilized, which delayed the rise in bread prices.

Olena Zhukova, former executive director of the All-Ukrainian Bakers Association, is convinced that bread prices will rise as the cost of flour changes and electricity problems arise.

According to experts, bread prices may rise by 10-15% by the end of the year.

“I think that a 30% increase is not very possible,” said Oleksiy Puchkov.

Experts note that currently, the rise in bread prices is being held back by large retail chains that bake it themselves. It also depends on consumers, who are increasingly focusing on cheap items.
