Another 1003 bodies of fallen soldiers returned to Ukraine (photos)

on December 19, as part of repatriation measures, 1003 bodies were returned to Ukraine, which, according to the Russian side, belong to Ukrainian servicemen. This was reported by the press service of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
“Repatriation activities took place today. 1003 bodies were returned to Ukraine, which, according to the Russian side, belong to Ukrainian servicemen,” the statement said.
In the near future, law enforcement investigators together with the expert institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs will carry out all necessary procedures:
- forensic medical examinations
- investigative actions;
- identification of repatriated bodies.
These measures are mandatory to establish the identity of the deceased and further official confirmation of the data for the families.





Who participated in the repatriation operation
The repatriation operation was made possible through the coordinated work of a number of Ukrainian institutions, including
- The Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War;
- The Joint Center at the Security Service of Ukraine;
- The Armed Forces of Ukraine;
- The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine;
- Office of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights;
- Secretariat of the Commissioner for Persons Missing in Special Circumstances;
- State Emergency Service of Ukraine;
- other structures of the security and defense sector of Ukraine.
The role of international partners
Special thanks were expressed to the International Committee of the Red Cross, which facilitated repatriation activities within its mandate.
Transportation and transfer of bodies
The transportation of repatriated victims is carried out by the personnel of the Central Department of Civil-Military Cooperation of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Joint Center for Support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The military organizes the delivery of bodies to designated state specialized institutions, as well as the transfer of the deceased to representatives of
- law enforcement agencies within the Ministry of Internal Affairs;
- forensic medical examination in the system of the Ministry of Health.
The identification process and further actions will be carried out in accordance with the current legislation of Ukraine.
