An app that “sees” Shaheds: Fluger is now available on iOS

After six months of approvals, Apple has approved the release of the Fluger mobile application in the App Store. The app, which helps Ukrainians navigate during air attacks, is now available not only for Android but also for iPhone users. This was announced by Gennadiy Suldin, co-founder of the Odesa-based volunteer group “Technari,” "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

“Less than half a year has passed!” commented Suldin.

According to him, the developers have overcome a long process of approvals with Apple. At the same time, more than 150 thousand users have already installed Vane on Android.

The launch of Fliuger on iOS was also made possible by the support of the Ministry of Strategic Industries of Ukraine.

What is Vane?

“Weathervane is a volunteer development of the Technari design bureau, created as an additional safety tool during air threats.

The application is not an official warning system, but it allows you to navigate in real time: where an enemy drone or missile may be flying, which direction to move in case of a threat.

What features does the app have?

  • Air Threat Alert: shows the direction of movement of enemy objects (e.g., “shaheds”).
  • Spatial orientation: indicates the azimuth to help you understand where the danger is.
  • Real-time updates: automatically updates data every 20-60 seconds, depending on the threat.
  • Security and privacy: “Weathervane does not require registration, does not store movement history, and does not collect personal data. The only permission is for access to GPS.
  • Convenience: the interface is intuitively simple, even for those who use such applications for the first time.

Where does the data come from?

Although Fluger is part of the air defense infrastructure, it operates autonomously.

The data comes through OSINT analysis and is entered manually by operators. The frequency of updates depends on the threat level:

  • in normal mode – once every 60 seconds
  • during an alarm – once every 40 seconds
  • in case of real danger – once every 20 seconds.

The radar is also updated when the user moves.

The interface shows a map with the active radar, which changes depending on your location and the level of threat.

What are the “plate” and “switch”?

This is a fixation of your location.

  • when you start the app, you will see a warning that the location is fixed
  • if you are not under the radar, it is better to leave the plate on

What do the stars under the radar mean?

This is your geolocation, hidden for safety.

  • click on the asterisks – you will see the coordinates
  • this is done so that your coordinates are not included in the screenshot.

Is my movement tracked?

No.

  • Weather vane does not have registration, does not store history, does not collect data
  • The only permission is for GPS to understand the situation around you

What do the colors on the radar mean?

  • green – everything is calm
  • yellow – alarm, get ready
  • red – threat is nearby, take cover immediately

The Fluger app is already available in the App Store for free and without ads.

The developers urge users to test the app, leave feedback and ratings, especially against the backdrop of the enemy’s destructive information campaign.

“We are a team. And we are stronger,” the authors of the initiative note.
