Powerful forest fires are raging in Turkey – the fire has come close to homes in the city of Bursa, and several thousand people have been evacuated. The fires have already claimed the lives of at least 14 people.

This was reported by The Independent, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

It rained ash in the city itself.

The fires were caused by abnormal heat and strong winds. Currently, the temperature in Turkey is about 50 degrees.

In the Karabük region (200 km north of Ankara), the fire has not been brought under control for more than 70 hours. More than 1,300 people have been evacuated from the risk zone, including more than 1,000 residents from 613 houses in the area of active burning. The flames also came close to the Russian-Turkish nuclear power plant.

According to Mash, more than 10,000 Russian specialists are working at the facility.

The fires also threaten the popular tourist destinations of Bodrum, Marmaris and Manavgat, as well as the Antalya airport. In addition, fires have been reported in Mugla, Mersin, Hatay, Karabuca, Kahramanmaras and Uşak, where aviation and ground forces are involved. Thousands of firefighters and rescuers across the country are engaged in firefighting operations.
