Day two of the 2024 Paralympics: Ukraine wins eight medals

Ukrainian athletes won four more medals on the second day of the 2024 Summer Paralympic Games in Paris (France). In total, the Ukrainian team has already won eight awards. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the National Paralympic Committee of Ukraine.
In total, the Ukrainian team won 1 gold, 5 silver and 2 bronze medals during the two competition days.
On the first day of the competition, the Ukrainian Paralympians won 2 silver and 2 bronze medals.
On the second day of the competition, the Ukrainian team won four medals: one gold and three silver.
The first gold medal for Ukraine came from pairs swimmer Oleksandr Komarov. He became the champion in the 100-metre freestyle in the S5 class (swimmers with moderately impaired coordination, severely impaired movements in the mid-torso and legs or missing limbs).




The day before, he had already won a bronze medal in the 200m freestyle in the same class.
Also on Friday, the Ukrainian team won its first silver medal in the pairs athletics competition. It was won by Vladyslav Bilyi in the javelin throwing competition in the F38 class (athletes with lower body and leg injuries).



Swimmer Iryna Poyda won another silver medal in the 100-metre freestyle in the S5 class.
This is also her second medal – the day before, she won another silver in the 200m freestyle in the same class.



Another silver medal in para athletics was won by Natalia Kobzar in the 200 metres in the T37 class (athletes with moderate impaired movement and coordination on one side of the body).
Nataliia Kobzar (pairs athletics) finished the second competition day in Paris with a silver medal in the 200m race, class T37.


Following the results of the second competition day, Ukraine moved up from 17th to 13th place in the overall medal standings.
