Pavel Durov, the founder of the Telegram messenger, is ready to buy the jewelry stolen from the Louvre Museum in Paris to transfer it to the Louvre Abu Dhabi.
He stated this on his page on the social network X, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
“I will be happy to buy back the stolen jewelry and transfer it back to the Louvre. I am, of course, referring to the Louvre Abu Dhabi,” Durov wrote, noting that no one steals from the Louvre Abu Dhabi.
According to the entrepreneur, he was not surprised by the robbery of the Parisian museum.
“This is another sad sign of the decline of a once-great country where the government has perfected the art of distracting people with imaginary threats instead of confronting real ones,” he added.
Louvre Abu Dhabi is an art museum that opened in 2017. Its collection includes exhibits from different eras and civilizations, including paintings by Leonardo da Vinci, Picasso, Gauguin, Manet, Magritte, and Bellini.
On the morning of October 19, the Louvre was attacked by robbers who broke into the Apollo Gallery and stole nine pieces of jewelry. The crown of Empress Eugenie, the wife of Napoleon III, has already been found lying broken in the street. The perpetrators are wanted.
