“Oshchadbank and Ukreximbank have become the owners of the Gulliver shopping and entertainment center in Kyiv due to the outstanding debts of its owner.
This was reported by Ukrayinska Pravda.
According to Oleksandr Bevz, a member of the Supervisory Board of Ukreximbank, state-owned Oschadbank and Ukreximbank, after a long struggle, obtained ownership of the Gulliver shopping center in Kyiv as a penalty for the debts of its owner.
It is noted that the transaction was carried out thanks to the work of teams of banks, government agencies and legal advisers.
In July 2016, the National Bank decided to liquidate Mykhailivskyi Bank, whose ultimate beneficiary was Viktor Polishchuk, the owner of the Eldorado chain.
In November 2016, Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko said that at the request of the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office, the Shevchenkivsky Court of Kyiv had arrested businessman Viktor Polishchuk’s property, the Gulliver shopping center. However, later the Kyiv Court of Appeal recognized this decision to arrest the Gulliver shopping center as illegal.
In January 2017, the court re-seized the Gulliver shopping and office complex in Kyiv.
In June last year, the Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv, having considered a petition filed by the Prosecutor General’s Office, transferred the Gulliver shopping center to the Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA).
