Former MP defrauded investor of more than UAH 20 million: he faces 12 years in prison

Police have exposed a criminal group led by former MP of the VII and VIII convocations Dmytro Andriyevsky that defrauded a real estate investor of more than UAH 20 million. This was reported by the National Police and the Prosecutor General’s Office, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

“The investor acquired property rights to premises with an area of more than 760 square meters in one of the central districts of Kyiv and paid its cost. However, the property was never transferred to him. Instead, the property was illegally resold through controlled entities: first to Ukrainian companies, and later to a foreign company. The proceeds were cashed out,” the law enforcement agency said in a statement.

According to the investigation, all actions were well planned in advance. As a result of the fraud, the victim suffered losses of more than UAH 21 million.

The police have not disclosed the name of the victim, but according to Interfax-Ukraine, it is Dmytro Andrievsky.

The suspects’ residences were searched and phones with correspondence confirming agreements on the scheme to misappropriate funds and alienate real estate were found.

Four people were notified of suspicion: Andrievsky, the director of the company that acted as the investor’s counterparty, and two accomplices. Prosecutors served the organizer and his accomplices with a notice of suspicion of misappropriation of property, money laundering and forgery.

The sanctions of the charged articles provide for up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.

Two of the suspects were served with a request to be released on bail in the amount of UAH 5 million. Two more suspects are outside Ukraine – documents are being prepared to put them on the international wanted list.

The investigation under Part 3 of Art. 27, Part 5 of Art. 191, Part 3 of Art. 27, Part 3 of Art. 28, Part 2 of Art. 366, Part 3 of Art. 27, Part 3 of Art. 209 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is ongoing.

In 2012, Andriievskyi ran for the Rada from Batkivshchyna, and in the early elections in 2014 – from the Petro Poroshenko Bloc. In 2019, he ran as a self-nominated candidate, but was unsuccessful.
