In September, Ukraine exported 3.7 million tons of agricultural products, down 6.5% from the previous month. Compared to September of the previous year, the decline in agricultural exports is 25%, the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club association reported, "Komersant Ukrainian".
“The main 2 reasons for this dynamics are the lag in harvesting compared to the same period last year (by 2-3 weeks), as well as the introduction of duties on soybean and rapeseed exports, which significantly reduced shipments, in particular due to the lack of a well-established mechanism. Exports of oilseeds in September decreased by 53%,” the experts said.
The association also clarified that the structure of exports of agricultural products in September was as follows:
- grain crops: 2.4 million tons (wheat – 86%, barley – 12%, corn – 2%). A 1% decrease compared to the previous month;
- oilseeds – 322.4 thsd tonnes (rapeseed – 73%, soybeans – 24%, flax – 2%). The decrease is 53%;
- oil – 313.3 thsd tonnes (sunflower oil – 53%, rapeseed oil – 35% and soybean oil – 12%). An increase of 48%;
- cake after oil extraction – 281 thsd tonnes (sunflower – 62%, soybean – 38%). At the level of the previous month;
- other types of agricultural products – 340 thousand tons. The increase is 5%.
“In October, we expect to intensify the export of agricultural products due to the increase in the volume of late harvested crops and optimization of soybean and rapeseed exports,” UCAB predicts.
