Power engineers announced the schedule of outages for December 4 – what you need to know
4 December 02:42
“Ukrenergo has published updated schedules of power outages that will take effect across Ukraine on Thursday, December 4. Due to massive Russian attacks on the energy infrastructure, the restrictions will last throughout the day and will affect both domestic and industrial consumers. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to Ukrenergo on Telegram.
What kind of blackouts will be on December 4
According to Ukrenergo, the following power outages will be applied in the regions of Ukraine on December 4
- from 00:00 to 23:59 – hourly power outages for the population within 0.5-3 queues;
- from 00:00 to 23:59 – power restrictions for industrial consumers.
Power engineers emphasize that the scope and duration of restrictions may vary throughout the day depending on the load on the grid and the situation after the repair work.
Up-to-date information on schedule changes will be posted on the websites of regional power distribution companies.
Why are there blackouts?
The reason for the stabilization measures is the consequences of massive Russian shelling of energy facilities that damaged some of the generation and distribution capacities.
As a result, the system is operating in a stressed mode, and outage schedules are being introduced to prevent accidents.
What are the Ukrainians asking for?
“Ukrenergo appeals to consumers to use electricity rationally, especially immediately after the power goes on as scheduled. At the same time, power engineers ask to follow the updates, as changes are possible throughout the day.
What happened the day before
on December 3, Ukraine also introduced hourly blackouts – from 0.5 to 3 queues, and separate power restrictions were in place for industry.
Where to find your outage schedule
“Ukrenergo urges Ukrainians to follow the updates on the official pages of regional power distribution companies in their region. They publish current schedules and changes in outages.
