The epidemic threshold has been exceeded in eight regions: where the situation is worst
12 February 06:47
The incidence of seasonal acute respiratory viral infections is growing in Ukraine. Over the past week, more than 160,000 people have fallen ill with influenza and other ARVI, which is 13.6% more than a week earlier. Eight regions of the country have already exceeded the epidemiological threshold.
This was reported by the Public Health Center, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
Where the epidemic threshold has been exceeded
On average, the incidence rate across the country does not yet exceed the epidemiological threshold. At the same time, the situation is more complicated in a number of regions.
The most tense epidemic situation is observed in:
- Kyiv region
- Poltava region
- Khmelnytskyi region.
In these regions, a more significant exceedance of the threshold values has been recorded.
Exceedances of the epidemic threshold with low intensity have also been recorded in:
- Volyn region
- Zhytomyr region
- Rivne region
- Sumy region
- Cherkasy region.
Medical professionals emphasize that the situation remains under control, but the increase in morbidity requires increased attention from citizens and health authorities.
Over 160,000 cases in a week
According to the Public Health Center, over 160,000 cases of influenza and other acute respiratory viral infections were registered in Ukraine last week. Compared to the previous period, the incidence rate increased by 13.6%.
Experts note that the increase is seasonal, but during periods of cold weather and active virus circulation, the risk of infection spreads significantly increases.
What doctors advise
Doctors recommend following basic preventive measures:
- get vaccinated against COVID-19 and influenza;
- wash your hands regularly with soap or use antiseptics;
- ventilate rooms;
- avoid crowded places;
- stay home if you have symptoms of illness;
- wear a protective mask if you have signs of acute respiratory viral infection.
The Public Health Center emphasizes that responsible behavior by every citizen will help reduce the burden on the healthcare system and prevent the further spread of viral infections.
