Fixed prices and guaranteed volumes: how Forests of Ukraine stabilizes the firewood market in winter

The State Enterprise “Forests of Ukraine” has announced that it will not raise prices for firewood for households and social institutions until the end of the heating season. This was reported by the company’s press service on Facebook, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
The decision was made against the backdrop of an aggravating situation in the country’s energy system, where the load on alternative heat sources is increasing due to Russian strikes.
What the company says
The company explains that firewood will remain at a fixed price within the social norm – up to 15 cubic meters per household. In the first ten days of December, demand was high but predictable: about 100,000 cubic meters were sold, which is in line with last year’s dynamics. Every day, the company ships 12-15 thousand cubic meters, which, according to them, does not exceed the usual volumes.
How firewood will be supplied to military units
Firewood supplies to military units are also carried out on schedule and in full. In order to avoid a shortage, firewood will not be put up for auction – the entire volume is directed exclusively to the population and the social sector. According to the company, the stocks are stable at the level of at least 150 thousand cubic meters.
Earlier, the Forests of Ukraine announced a threefold increase in fines for illegal felling of Christmas trees during the winter holidays in December and January. This decision was explained by the need to maintain control over forest resources during the peak demand period.
