Truck demolishes checkpoint in Odesa region: two soldiers killed (video)

Near the village of Sukhyi Lyman in Odesa district, a truck ran over two soldiers who were near a mobile checkpoint. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the police of Odesa region.
The tragedy occurred today, October 17, at about 7 o’clock on the road near the village of Sukhyi Lyman. A truck rammed into a military checkpoint there. Two soldiers, aged 34 and 36, were killed.
According to preliminary data, the driver of the truck, born in 1962, did not notice the soldiers who were near the mobile checkpoint. One victim died on the spot, the other died in an ambulance on the way to the hospital.
The driver was tested for intoxication and found to be sober.
Currently, the investigative team of the Odesa Region Main Department of the National Police is establishing all the circumstances of the accident. The issue of entering information into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations and possible detention of the driver in a procedural manner is being resolved.
The police also inform about temporary traffic complications on this section of the road and urge drivers to take this information into account when planning their route.
Law enforcement officers remind drivers to strictly follow the traffic rules and be vigilant on the road.
