NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, speaking at the US military academy in West Point, expressed his opinion on the end of the war in Ukraine, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
The head of the alliance assured that the members of the bloc will continue to support Ukraine so that it has everything it needs to defend itself and “to deter any future Russian aggression.”
“The United States and its allies are working on security guarantees to ensure that when peace comes, it will be lasting,” Rutte said.
He noted that the war in Ukraine “will most likely end in negotiations.”
According to the secretary general, he has met with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin many times and is confident that “the only way to get him to the negotiating table” is to increase pressure on Russia.
