General Staff: two areas remain the hottest

Over the past day, 172 combat engagements were recorded at the frontline. In particular, in the hottest areas – Pokrovske and Kurakhove, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports, citing a General Staff report.

“Yesterday, in total, the Russian aggressor launched four missile strikes (seven missiles), 72 air strikes (including 122 combat aircraft) and 1508 kamikaze drone strikes at the positions of our troops and settlements, fired 4420 times at the positions of our troops and settlements, 117 of them from MLRS.

The areas of Yablunivka, Katerynivka, Obody, Zolochiv, Kupiansk, Tverdokhlibove, Serebryanske forestry, Stupochki, Nikonorivka, Petrivka, Sloviansk, Kramatorsk, Kostiantynivka, Oleksandropil, Tarasivka, Kalynove, Mala Tokmachka, Orikhiv, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson were subjected to enemy air strikes.

Situation at the frontline

The enemy continued active operations inthe Kharkiv sector, with a total of six combat engagements taking place. The fighting took place in the vicinity of Starytsia and Vovchansk.

Inthe Kupyansk sector, the enemy attacked the positions of our units 25 times. The invaders made the main efforts in the areas of Sinkivka, Novoselivka, Hlushkivka, Lozova and Kruglyakivka.

Inthe Lyman sector , our troops repelled 20 occupants’ attacks near Makiivka, Hrekivka, Nevske, Novosadove, Torske and in the Serebryansky forest.

Inthe Kramatorsk sector, our troops stopped four enemy attempts to break through our defences in the areas of Chasovyi Yar and Stupochky in Donetsk region.

Inthe Toretsk sector, the enemy launched 12 attacks with the support of aviation near the towns of Toretsk, Diliyivka and Nelipivka.

Inthe Pokrovsk sector, our defenders repelled 26 assault and offensive attacks. The enemy concentrated its efforts in the areas of Lysivka and Selydove, where it conducted more than half of the attacks. In addition, the occupants’ attempts to advance were stopped near Novotoretsk, Kalynove, Krutyi Yar, Novohrodivka and Mykolaivka in Donetsk region.

Inthe Kurakhove sector, the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to hold back the enemy in the areas of Tsukuryno, Zhelannyi Druhyi, Hirnyk, Novoselydivka, Horoshne, Heorhiivka and Katerynivka, where the enemy tried to break through the defences of our troops 37 times.

Inthe Vremivsk sector, the aggressor made three assaults on our positions in the direction of Bohoyavlenka, Donetsk region.

Two unsuccessful attempts to attack Ukrainian units were repelled by the defenders of Ukrainian land in the Orikhiv sector near Robotyno.

Inthe Prydniprovsky sector, our defenders severely stopped seven attempts by the occupiers to advance on the frontlines occupied by Ukrainian troops.

There were no significant changes inthe Gulyaypillia and Siversk sectors. The enemy is constantly shelling civilian infrastructure and the positions of our troops, and is using aircraft.

The situation inthe Volyn and Polissya sectors remained unchanged. No signs of the formation of offensive groups of invaders have been detected.

On the border with Chernihiv and Sumy regions, the enemy maintains a military presence, shelling settlements from the territory of the Russian Federation, and conducting sabotage and reconnaissance activities.

Defence forces continue operations in the Kursk region. According to available data, the Russian occupiers carried out 17 air strikes, using 24 anti-aircraft missiles in the Kursk region.

Enemy losses

Yesterday, the aviation, missile forces and artillery of the Defence Forces struck three airborne communications and electronic warfare facilities and six areas of enemy personnel and equipment concentration, a fuel and lubricants base, and destroyed an Osa air defence system.

Thus, the total losses of the Russian invaders amounted to 1340 people yesterday. Our soldiers also neutralised seven tanks, 30 armoured combat vehicles, 47 artillery systems, an air defence system, 43 operational and tactical UAVs, 3 missiles, 83 vehicles and nine pieces of special equipment.

The total enemy combat losses from 24.02.22 to 08.10.24 are estimated to be

  • personnel – about 662,970 (1340) people were killed;
  • tanks – 8940 (7) units;
  • armoured combat vehicles – 17,740 (30) units;
  • artillery systems – 19,203 (47) units;
  • MLRS – 1223 units;
  • air defence systems – 973 (1) units;
  • aircraft – 368 units;
  • helicopters – 328 units;
  • UAVs of operational and tactical level – 16,686 (43) units;
  • cruise missiles – 2618 (3) units;
  • ships/boats – 28 units;
  • submarines – 1 unit;
  • motor vehicles and tankers – 26,185 (83) units;
  • special equipment – 3373 (9) units.
