General Staff denies “mass transfer” from air defense to infantry: details

30 August 12:18

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has denied rumors of a massive transfer of air defense specialists to the infantry.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing a comment by Major Andriy Kovalev, spokesman for the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

Kovalyov explained that in order to qualitatively man up military units that need to restore combat capability, servicemen of air defense units of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, whose military specialties are not critical to the combat readiness of their units, have been reassigned to other positions in accordance with their military specialties.

At the same time, this does not apply to air defense specialists who ensure the protection of Ukrainian skies.

Instead, he emphasized, all highly specialized air defense specialists, namely those who serve as high-tech specialists, specialists in automated control systems, computer technology, UAV specialists, interceptor drones, and those who have been trained abroad on foreign models of weapons and military equipment received from partner countries, remain in their positions and continue to perform their assigned tasks.

The General Staff spokesperson emphasized that at the same time, new units are being formed to strengthen air defense, involving servicemen who have undergone appropriate retraining and acquired the necessary skills to operate modern air defense systems.

On the contrary, the process of transferring so-called infantry “riflemen” to the positions of “UAV/interceptor drone pilots” is often observed, which, in turn, will allow for more effective defense of Ukraine’s skies and protection of Ukrainian cities.

It is worth noting that in recent days, the media has spread information about the alleged transfer of air defense servicemen of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to infantry units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

However, as it turned out, this information is not true.

It is worth noting that over the past week, the Russian occupiers have again intensified large-scale attacks on Ukraine. In particular, on the night of August 28, Russia carried out the most massive attack in recent times. More than 600 drones and missiles of various types were fired at Ukraine.
