The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces confirmed the presence of 200 Russian troops in the city of Pokrovsk, Donetsk region. The situation in this area “remains difficult” as “the enemy is outnumbered and increasing its offensive efforts.” The statement was published on the Telegram channel of the Ukrainian military department on Sunday, October 26, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

“The enemy, through the use of interposition space and small infantry groups, has amassed about 200 soldiers in the city. Small-arms fire continues in the settlement, and UAV units are actively working,” the General Staff said.

It is also noted that the attempts of the Russian army “to move deeper and gain a foothold in the urban area prevent counter-sabotage measures.”

The General Staff of the Armed Forces also reported that over the past 10 days, they managed to regain control of two settlements – the villages of Kucheriv Yar and Sukhetske.

“Since August 21, 2025, the situation has been stabilized in this area (on the Ocheretyn section near Pokrovsk – Ed.), control over nine settlements has been restored, and nine more have been cleared of enemy subversive groups,” the department said.

The comment by the Ukrainian Armed Forces General Staff came a few hours after the head of the Russian Armed Forces General Staff, Valery Gerasimov, reported to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin that the “encirclement” of Ukrainian troops on the Pokrovske and Kupyanske directions had been “completed. It is alleged that 5,500 soldiers are surrounded in the first area, and up to 5,000 in the second.
