Hetmantsev announces fight against smuggling of new iPhone 17

The State Tax Service of Ukraine plans to conduct control purchases of iPhone 17 by the end of September or in October in well-known retail chains. The purpose of such measures is to identify and seize smuggled goods. This was announced by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Taxation and Customs Policy Danylo Hetmantsev on his Telegram channel, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

“I don’t want to sound boring, but I will propose that the State Tax Service purchase new iPhone 17s by the end of September or in October as part of the control and verification work,” he wrote.

Where the purchases will take place

According to Hetmantsev, the control purchases will be made in well-known store chains, or even better, in online stores.

Employees of the Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine will also be involved in the process.

Seizure of contraband goods

Mr. Hetmantsev emphasized the need to properly document the seizure of smuggled goods, which is a prerequisite for the effectiveness of the procedure.

Expected results

He believes that such actions will prevent smuggling of the popular novelty and demonstrate the effectiveness of law enforcement and the fiscal service.

“There is no better indicator of the work of law enforcement and fiscal authorities than full-scale advertising of smugglers and their smuggled novelties on the country’s most powerful advertising platforms,” summarized Danylo Hetmantsev.
