Mountain resort GORO: construction of the first hotel has started

The construction of the first hotel complex at GORO Mountain Resort, which will become part of a large-scale tourism project, has started in the Carpathians. The project is being implemented by OKKO Group in partnership with GORO Development, which is responsible for architectural design, construction, and investor attraction. This was reported by the press service of OKKO Group, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

The new all-season mountain resort of the international format GORO Mountain Resort will be located at the foot of the Vysokyi Verkh mountain range at an altitude of 650 m above sea level, near the villages of Volosyanka and Verkhnia Rozhanka, which are part of the Slavska united territorial community, Lviv region.

What does the first stage of construction include?

The first phase of GORO with a total area of 127 hectares will start near the village of Volosyanka, located 5 km from the village of Slavsko. The construction of the Welcome Center and the lower station of the gondola cable car has already begun.

On the territory of 127 hectares, it is planned to build:

  • 10 ski slopes with a total length of 13 km with 50 hectares of artificial snowmaking systems
  • a 2.8 km long gondola cable car
  • two 1.5 km long chair lifts.

Five hotel complexes with 1,100 rooms will be built on the 20-hectare territory of the first stage of the resort, along with recreational infrastructure with spa areas, swimming pools, restaurants, children’s and business areas.

The first hotel complex will have an area of 48,000 sq m and will include three design hotels with 415 rooms. In addition, 11,000 square meters will be used for commercial and entertainment infrastructure. The construction is scheduled to be completed in mid-2028. In total, the first phase of GORO will unite nine hotels in five complexes offering more than 1,100 rooms. Additional facilities will include spa areas, swimming pools, restaurants, playgrounds and business spaces.

Long-term development plans for GORO Mountain Resort

GORO Mountain Resort will become one of the largest tourist complexes in Ukraine. In the future, the resort will have:

  • 25 hotels with 5150 rooms;
  • 41 ski slopes with a length of 75 km;
  • 11 chairlifts and 2 gondolas;
  • Welcome centers and Mountain centers to serve guests.

Investments in a large-scale resort

According to Forbes, the total investment in GORO Mountain Resort will amount to $1.5 billion. OKKO Group plans to invest $500 million of its own and loan funds, and another $1 billion will be raised from partners. In addition, key facilities, including cable cars and the Welcome Center, have already received long-term financing from FUIB for 10 years.

OKKO Group, founded by Lviv businessman Vitaliy Antonov, is the sole owner, main investor and developer of GORO Mountain Resort. According to the YouControl analytical system, Antonov is also the owner of Concern Galnaftogaz, which manages the OKKO filling station network. OKKO Group includes more than 10 businesses in various fields, including manufacturing, construction, insurance and trade, as well as the housing construction company Vash Dim.
