Voting for the Anti-Corruption Council at the Defense Ministry disrupted and postponed

26 December 2024 14:30

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has announced the cancellation of today’s online voting for members of the Public Anti-Corruption Council. This is stated in a statement by the Defense Ministry, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

Today, from 09:00 to 21:00, online voting for members of the Council was to take place. However, a number of users faced a practical impossibility to do so due to technical failures on the website.

“The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine sincerely apologizes for the technical failures that occurred during the online rating voting for members of the Public Anti-Corruption Council under the Ministry of Defense. This was caused by internal technical problems, including unstable operation of the website and errors in user authentication,”

– the Defense Ministry explained, in effect explaining the problem itself.

In order to “maintain confidence in the process and ensure its full transparency,” the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine decided to cancel the results of today’s vote:

  • Annul the results of today’s vote.
  • Postpone the vote to January 7, 2025.

The voting should take place at the same time: from 09:00 to 21:00 at the following link: https://rgk.vote.mod.gov.ua/.

“We are taking all necessary measures to eliminate technical problems and ensure stable operation of the system throughout the voting process,”

– the ministry added.

At the same time, some of the people who encountered technical problems on the website suspect that the technical problems were not accidental. For example, Yuriy Hudymenko, a public figure and military man, as well as a candidate for the Public Council in this vote, emphasizes that the voting was disrupted solely because of the Ministry of Defense and does not believe that it could have happened by accident.

Thus, Gudymenko claims that a screenshot of the page with gratitude for voting appeared in the Telegram channel “Joker” at 08:36, while the official voting was supposed to start at nine in the morning.

“Joker” posted a screenshot of how he voted at 8:36. While the election starts at 9:00. The conclusions from this fact are obvious, we are preparing appropriate actions,”

– gudymenko wrote on Facebook.

Currently, there is no such post on the Joker TV channel, but in the comments to Gudymenko’s post, users noted that voting under the open protocol began at eight in the morning and by nine there were already a lot of voters, approximately several hundred.

Hudymenko believes that the Defense Ministry deliberately disrupted the voting for the Public Anti-Corruption Council.

Defense Minister Rustem Umerov has not yet commented on the situation.
