IDF chief lawyer goes missing after resigning

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) has confirmed that its resigned chief military lawyer, Major General Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi, has gone missing. This was reported by The Times of Israel, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

The Jerusalem Post reports that police began searching when her family members reported her missing. They had not been able to contact the relative since the morning. Tomer Yerushalmi’s car was found on a beach in the northern part of Tel Aviv. A letter was found near the car.

Two days ago, Tomer-Yerushalmi resigned from her post. The decision was made a few hours after the lawyer was dismissed by Army Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir in connection with her possible involvement in the publication of videos of soldiers’ ill-treatment of a Palestinian prisoner.

The media claimed that Tomer Yerushalmi approved the leaked video of the rape of Palestinian prisoners in the Sde Teiman camp committed by Israeli soldiers in August 2024. Human rights organizations said that the reservists involved in the incident escaped prosecution.
