A sharp dispute in the Rada: Zelensky voiced the condition for demobilization of the military

The issue of demobilization of the military and rotations at the front became one of the hottest topics during the July 17 session of the Verkhovna Rada. Speaking in parliament, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy made it clear that the end of service for the mobilized is possible only after the victory over Russia. The video was posted by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
The controversy erupted during the consideration of Yulia Svyrydenko’s candidacy for the post of Prime Minister. Oleksiy Honcharenko, an MP from the European Solidarity party, asked a direct question about the timing of the demobilization of the Ukrainian military. Zelensky took the floor instead of the candidate.
“The Ukrainian military will return home when we defeat the enemy – and that is Putin. There are no enemies inside our country. And you should not take this side,” the president emphasized.
In response to the MP’s remarks, Zelenskyy also addressed the issue of rotations. According to him, real support for the army will begin when MPs join the service.
“Our heroes deserve quality rotations, when people like you, when people like you, will be at the front helping them, not just here,” Zelensky addressed Honcharenko.
Last year, the Verkhovna Rada considered a draft law on mobilization that contained a provision on clear terms of service. However, the clause on demobilization was excluded, and the Ministry of Defense promised to develop a separate document.
