A game for two: drones fly at Moscow for the second day in a row

Moscow is experiencing the second day of large-scale drone attacks, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports, citing Bloomberg. This has caused delays to dozens of flights as airports around the Russian capital have been shut down overnight.
Since midnight Thursday local time, Russian air defense has shot down 26 drones flying toward the capital, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said in a series of Telegram posts. This is in addition to dozens of drones shot down over the past 24 hours. No injuries were reported.
All four airports in the greater Moscow area suspended operations several times over the past day before resuming them after 6:00 a.m. Thursday local time, according to the flight safety watchdog.
These developments are yet another sign that a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia remains elusive. The drone attacks have intensified despite the fact that the two sides held their first direct talks since 2022 last week and a recent phone call between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The Russian capital last experienced serious air traffic disruptions on May 7-8, when numerous world leaders, including Chinese President Xi Jinping, arrived in Moscow for the Victory Parade.
The latest wave of attacks is unusual in that it has continued throughout the day, whereas previous strikes have typically occurred at night. This change underscores Ukraine’s growing ability to put pressure on Russian air defense systems, potentially causing greater economic damage.
Ukrainian drone attacks have also continued in several other regions of central Russia, including Kaluga, Smolensk and Ryazan regions, officials said. The air defense of Tula region, bordering Moscow, faced ten waves of drones, the local governor said. In total, Russia shot down 105 drones overnight, the Defense Ministry said.
In Ukraine, Kyiv activated an air alert Thursday morning as Russian drones approached the capital. This follows large-scale Russian drone attacks on Ukraine last week.
