Schedules of power outages on November 6: who will be affected by the restrictions

6 November 05:14

Today, November 6, schedules of hourly power outages will continue to operate in Ukrainian regions. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to Ukrenergo.

The restrictions will be in effect in all regions from 08:00 to 22:00. This means that both household and industrial consumers should be prepared for temporary power outages.

Why are the power outages happening?

The reason is the consequences of massive Russian attacks on the energy infrastructure.

The shelling has damaged energy facilities, which is why the balance between electricity production and consumption remains unstable.

“On November 6, all regions of Ukraine will be forced to apply consumption restriction measures,” Ukrenergo said.

How the schedules will work

Hours of operation: from 08:00 to 22:00

Duration of the outage: from 0.5 to 2 rounds (depending on the load in a particular region)

Who will be affected: household consumers and industrial enterprises

During this time, power limitation schedules for business and industry will also be in effect to stabilize the power system.

Will it happen again in winter?

Ukrenergo has already warned that if the attacks on the power system continue, Ukraine may return to systemic hourly blackouts in winter.

Power engineers are working to repair and strengthen the protection of facilities, but the situation remains difficult.

Who determines the number of queues in the regions

The decision on the number of LFO queues to be used in certain regions is made by Ukrenergo’s chief dispatcher. It depends on the level of electricity deficit in a particular region, consumption volumes, number of industrial facilities and critical infrastructure enterprises.

“Consumption in different regions of Ukraine differs significantly, so blackout schedules are formed individually for each regional power company,” the Ministry of Energy noted.

What energy companies ask

Energy companies urge Ukrainians to use electricity as economically as possible:

  • not to turn on energy-intensive appliances at the same time,
  • limit the use of electric stoves, boilers, and air conditioners,
  • turn off lights in rooms where no one is present.

Where Ukrainians can find out about the schedules

Information for each region is updated in social media on the official pages of regional power distribution companies:
