A man who fraudulently obtained three apartments in Kyiv will be tried for fraud. The suspect often appeared in the media as an expert on apartment scams. This was reported by the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
“Under the procedural supervision of the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office, an indictment was sent to court against a 48-year-old Kyiv resident who inherited three apartments in Kyiv using forged documents and posing as a relative of the deceased owners (Part 3 of Article 15, Part 4 of Article 190, Part 3 of Article 15, Part 5 of Article 190, Part 5 of Article 27, Part 3 of Article 358, Part 4 of Article 358 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). One of the inherited apartments belonged to a woman who is actually alive,” the statement said.
The criminals forged the 70-year-old single woman’s will and a medical certificate of her death, obtaining a death certificate from the Kyiv Registration Department. This allowed them to inherit the property.

Although the woman had been illegally deprived of her home in 2018, she did not turn to law enforcement until late 2023. After that, she was assigned a free defense attorney to restore her rights to the apartment.

It was also discovered that the man, posing as a relative of the deceased, had been applying to notaries without documents and obtaining the right to use the deceased’s apartments in Kyiv.
The indictment was sent to court. The article provides for up to 8 years in prison. The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the investigators of the Kyiv City Police Department.
