Russia is planning to launch 500 Shaheds and other drones across Ukraine simultaneously. This was stated by the Deputy Chief of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, Major General Vadym Skibitskyi, in an interview with RBC-Ukraine, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
According to him, the Russians are planning to increase the number of launch sites from which they will launch drones in Ukrainian regions.
“According to the Russian command, if the plans for the first half of the year are fulfilled, they will be able to launch about 500 unmanned aerial vehicles at a time,” Skibitsky said.
He also spoke about a significant increase in UAV production in Russia, in particular at plants in Izhevsk, Elabuga, the Kalashnikov concern, etc. The increase in UAV production allows the occupiers to use 150 to 200 drones in one night.

Skibitsky also explained that the Russians have now expanded the range of UAVs that are being launched into Ukraine. Among them are many false targets that are used to overload Ukraine’s air defense system.
“Earlier, in 2023 – early 2024, we knew only one Shahed, then Geranium-1, Geranium-2, and that was it. Today, the range of these unmanned aerial vehicles is so large that it is not even always possible to count them on one hand: Geranium-1, Geranium-2, Harpy, Gerbera, Parodya and others,” explained the DIU representative.
According to the DIU, the targets of Russian drone attacks have not changed: these are the control systems of the Armed Forces, the Defense Forces, Ukrainian airfields, defense enterprises, and critical infrastructure, such as the energy and gas transportation systems.
It is worth noting that the current record is the launch of 267 drones across Ukraine on the night of February 23.
