Iran announces termination of cooperation with the IAEA

Iran is suspending cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). This was reported by The Times of Israel, citing an official statement by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, made on Iranian state television, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

He noted that the Iranian parliament had passed a bill on the termination of cooperation with the IAEA, which was subsequently finally approved by the Council of the Guardians of the Islamic Revolution, and then became binding.

“The draft law approved by the Guardian Council… is binding for us, and there is no doubt about its implementation. From now on, our relations and cooperation with (the IAEA – ed.) will take on a new form,” the official emphasized.

The IAEA does not currently have a clear idea whether the recent attacks by Israel and the United States have set back Iran’s nuclear program by years or just months.

Earlier, IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi called for the resumption of nuclear inspections in Iran after the ceasefire between Tehran and Israel.

on June 13, Israel launched a large-scale bombing campaign against Iranian nuclear facilities, killing many high-ranking commanders – mostly from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps – and nuclear scientists.

Iran responded with missile and drone strikes on Israeli cities.

on June 23, the United States, allied with Israel, launched its own strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities in Fordow, Isfahan, and Natanz. After that, Iran attacked an American military base in Qatar, causing no casualties. And on June 24, a ceasefire between Israel and Iran was announced with the mediation of the United States.

Israel, the United States and other Western countries insist that Iran will not be allowed to develop nuclear weapons. Tehran maintains that its nuclear program is exclusively for peaceful purposes.
