Iran has suspended the implementation of agreements with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reached in Egypt. This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Abbas Araqchi, noting that the country has ceased cooperation with the agency.
“The Cairo agreement has now been terminated, and we have ceased cooperation with the IAEA on the nuclear program,” Araqchi said during a live broadcast on Iranian television, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
In late September, Iran’s Supreme National Security Council decided to suspend cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). This measure was taken against the backdrop of a UN vote to impose sanctions on Tehran.
The statement says that despite the cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the agency and the proposed plans to resolve the crisis, cooperation with the IAEA will be suspended due to the actions of European countries.
At the same time, it is emphasized that even in the conditions of suspension of cooperation, the Iranian Foreign Ministry is recommended to continue consultations with the IAEA within the framework of the decision of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran in order to protect the national interests of the country.
