Ishchenko dismissed from the post of the head of the State Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has dismissed Hryhoriy Ishchenko from the post of head of the State Agency of Ukraine on Exclusion Zone Management. The decision was made during a government meeting on July 2, 2025, as reported by the Permanent Representative of the Cabinet of Ministers in the Verkhovna Rada Taras Melnychuk, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

Ishchenko has been heading the agency since December 2024. Prior to his appointment, he worked at the state-owned Energoatom.

In June 2025, the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NAPC) found signs of false declarations in his reports.

In particular, there were discrepancies of more than UAH 8.5 million, which became the basis for launching an official investigation.

Volodymyr Feshchenko is currently acting head of the State Agency.

What is known about Hryhoriy Ishchenko?

Who is he?

  • Since December 2024, he has worked as the Head of the State Agency of Ukraine on Exclusion Zone Management (SAUEZM)
  • Previously, he held senior positions in the field of nuclear safety:
    • Worked at the Energoatom Company, in particular as Deputy Director for Radiation Safety (2021)
    • In 2003-2004, he was Director General of the State Association Radon.
  • He has extensive experience in radioactive waste management and has undergone professional training in accordance with IAEA standards.

Key role in the Chornobyl zone

  • As the head of SAUEZM, he initiated internal meetings with the SES and the Ministry of Environment on threats in the exclusion zone and fire safety.
  • Participated in the development of green energy projects in the zone: launch of two solar power plants and plans for small modular reactors
