21 February 17:01
The 2026 Winter Olympics have come to an end for Ukrainian athletes, and at these Games, the “blue and yellow” team repeated their worst result in history, writes "Komersant Ukrainian".
For the third time, Ukraine has failed to win any medals at the Winter Olympics. This has already happened in 2002 and 2010.
However, at that time, the best results for Ukrainian athletes were fifth places. This time, the highest place was sixth – in the team freestyle and in the luge relay.
It should be noted that Ukraine has won a total of nine medals in the history of the Winter Olympics. Three of them are gold medals.
All of Ukraine’s medals at the Winter Olympics
- Gold: Oksana Baiul (figure skating, 1994 Olympics), Vita Semerenko, Yulia Dzhyma, Valya Semerenko, Olena Pidhrushna (biathlon in the women’s relay, 2014 Olympics), Oleksandr Abramenko (freestyle, ski acrobatics, 2018 Olympics).
- Silver: Olena Petrova (biathlon, individual race, 1998 Olympics), Oleksandr Abramenko (freestyle, ski acrobatics, 2022 Olympics).
- Bronze: Valentina Tserbe-Nesina (biathlon, sprint, 1994 Olympics), Lilia Yefremova (biathlon, sprint, 2006 Olympics), Olena Grushina and Ruslan Goncharov (figure skating, 2006 Olympics), Vita Semerenko (biathlon, sprint, 2014 Olympics).
In total, athletes will compete for 116 sets of medals at the 2026 Olympics. The last competitions will take place on February 22.
It should be added that Ukraine was represented by 46 athletes at the 2026 Olympic Games, which is more than at Lillehammer 1994, Sochi 2014, and Pyeongchang 2018, where our Olympians won medals.
