Cabinet of Ministers allows male students to leave Ukraine: list of conditions

The government has adopted a resolution allowing male students to travel abroad. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Education and Science, Komersant ukrainskyi
reports.
Earlier, students of Mariupol and Sumy State Universities voiced a proposal to restore this opportunity during meetings with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. On behalf of the President, the Ministry of Education and Science developed a resolution that was approved by the government.
“From now on, academic mobility to higher education institutions abroad under special conditions is also available for male students,” the statement reads,

To cross the border to participate in the academic mobility programme, male students must:
- be between the ages of 18 and 22;
- not be subject to military service during mobilisation;
- study full-time at Ukrainian higher education institutions of state or municipal ownership;
- obtain a bachelor’s degree (master’s degree in medicine, pharmacy or veterinary medicine);
- participate in academic mobility for 1 semester.
List of documents required for travelling abroad:
- student’s e-ticket;
- a referral from the university;
- a certified copy of the agreement with a foreign university on admission to the academic mobility programme;
- a military reference document from the TCC.
The Ministry of Education and Science will not issue any special permits.
“This decision will contribute to Ukraine’s integration into the European higher education area, restore the opportunity for all students to participate in academic mobility programmes, which will allow them to gain new knowledge and experience,”
– the Ministry said.
