The Cabinet of Ministers has registered in the Verkhovna Rada draft law No. 1️1️4️7️9️ on deprivation of veteran status for committing a serious crime. This was announced by the government’s representative in parliament, Taras Melnychuk, reports "Komersant Ukrainian"

The Cabinet of Ministers registered the draft law in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine: The draft law “On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On the Status of War Veterans, Guarantees of Their Social Protection” regarding the deprivation of the status of a war veteran, a family member of a deceased (deceased) war veteran, a family member of a deceased (deceased) Defender or Defender of Ukraine” (Reg. No. 11479)

It is noted that the document aims to legislatively define the grounds for depriving a combatant, a person with a disability as a result of war or a war veteran, respectively, or a family member of a deceased war veteran or a family member of a deceased defender or defender of Ukraine of the status granted.

This is a deliberate crime against the foundations of Ukraine’s national security or the established procedure for military service, or peace, human security and international order, or for the commission of a grave or especially grave crime by a person.

According to the draft document, the grounds for deprivation of veteran status will be a court conviction that has entered into force.
