The Cabinet of Ministers has dismissed Deputy Minister of Education and Science Mykhailo Vynnytsky. He had held this position for two years. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the government’s representative in parliament, Taras Melnychuk.

“Dismissed: Volodymyr Vasylenko from the post of Deputy Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine; Mykhailo Vynnytskyi from the post of Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine,” the report says.

Mykhailo Vynnytskyi was appointed to the position of Deputy Minister of Oksen Lisovyi in May 2023. Prior to that, he was a lecturer at the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, as well as Mohyla and Lviv Business Schools (UCU).

His activities in the team of the Minister of Education and Science focused on higher education, where he advocated for systemic reforms in the sector.

According to Vynnyckyi, his main achievements in the post are the introduction of a system of state grants for education, digitalization of the admission and financing system, restart of formula financing of higher education institutions, introduction of individual educational trajectories for students, modernization of the network of higher education institutions, international integration through Twinning and other projects.

At the same time, Vynnytsky noted that the decision to dismiss him was political and added that it was necessary to maintain the course of reforms led by Education Minister Oksen Lisovyi, which, according to him, “some MPs and especially rectors, both former and current, really dislike.”

“It seems that it was the emphasis on transparency and openness in communication that irritated those ‘active’ MPs who persistently demanded my resignation,” Vynnytskyi wrote.

At the same time, he admitted that he had been in office “about twice as long as I had planned,” 812 days.

Thanking Lisovyi and his colleagues, he mentioned the achievements of the Ministry of Education and Science during this period, including the introduction of state grants for education and special grants for children of veterans, digitalization of the admission and funding process, the emergence of individual educational trajectories, modernization of the network of higher education institutions, and more.

In conclusion, Vynnytskyi added that he is not going to leave higher education.
