Personnel rotations in the government: who was fired and who was appointed

The Ukrainian government has made new personnel changes in a number of ministries and government agencies. This was announced by the Permanent Representative of the Cabinet of Ministers in the Verkhovna Rada Taras Melnychuk, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

The following have been dismissed:

  • Andriy Chesnokov – Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine;
  • Olga Yukhymchuk – Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources for European Integration.

The Government appointed:

  • Artem Nekrasov – First Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine;
  • Olha Yukhymchuk – Deputy Minister of Energy for European Integration (after her dismissal from the Ministry of Environment);
  • Ihor Zubovych – Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine;
  • Yulia Zaichenko – First Deputy Head of the State Agency of Ukraine PlayCity;
  • Oleksandr Subbotenko – Acting Head of the State Ecological Inspection of Ukraine.

What preceded the changes

On July 17, the Verkhovna Rada appointed Yulia Svyrydenko as the new Prime Minister. Denys Shmyhal was appointed Minister of Defense, while Andriy Sybiga retained the post of Foreign Minister.

Subsequently, the Cabinet of Ministers carried out a large-scale reorganization of the central executive authorities. It was decided to liquidate four ministries:

  • Ministry of Unity – merged with the Ministry of Social Policy,
  • The Ministry of Strategic Industries was merged into the Ministry of Defense,
  • The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and the Ministry of Ecology were merged into the renewed Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine.
