Kazakhstan refuses to mediate in the war between Russia and Ukraine

Kazakhstan does not see itself as a mediator in the war between Russia and Ukraine. This was stated by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, according to Tengrinews.kz, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

“Kazakhstan is not a mediator in the military conflict between Russia and Ukraine and does not see itself as such,” the Kazakh president said.

Tokayev expressed the opinion that Kyiv and Moscow are able to conduct a dialogue on all controversial topics on a bilateral basis and at various levels, including the highest.

The politician added that the situation in Ukraine is very complicated and cannot be simplified.

on September 23, Tokayev met with Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. The Kazakh leader spoke in favor of continuing diplomatic efforts to resolve the war in Ukraine. Zelenskyy said that they also discussed trade and economic cooperation and the interest of Kazakh business in the restoration of Ukraine. Earlier, Kazakhstan expressed its readiness to mediate between Moscow and Kyiv and provide a platform for negotiations.
