Head of colony #98 detained for bribery: SBI exposes kickback scheme for business deals

The State Bureau of Investigation has served a notice of suspicion to the acting director of the state enterprise Enterprise of the State Criminal Executive Service of Ukraine (No. 98), "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
What the investigation says
According to the investigation, the official systematically demanded undue benefits from entrepreneurs for signing contracts with correctional institutions.
The official was responsible for signing agreements for the manufacture of products by convicts in the colonies. For each contract, he allegedly demanded a 10% kickback from the total amount. The scheme was documented thanks to one of the businessmen who ordered the production of wire low-visibility obstacles in the colony.
The contract with Shepetivka Correctional Colony (No. 98) was worth UAH 6 million, and the official demanded UAH 600 thousand for “assistance.” on November 26, 2025, SBI officers detained the head while he was receiving the second part of the bribe – UAH 405 thousand and USD 1,300.
The court imposed on the suspect a pre-trial restraint in the form of detention with an alternative bail in the amount of UAH 499 thousand.
Earlier it was reported that the State Financial Monitoring Service recorded more than 1.4 million suspicious financial transactions in the first three quarters of 2025, which is 10% more than a year earlier.
