She wanted to go to war against the Russians: World War II veteran dies

Olga Tverdokhlebova, a World War II veteran and retired colonel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, died at the age of 102. At the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, she wanted to go to the front as a sniper against the Russians.
This was reported by the police of Vinnytsia region, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
Olga Tverdokhlebova went through World War II, during which she was a scout in a radio reconnaissance division. To get to the front, she forged her documents, making herself two years older.
What did the veteran say about her awards?
In an interview withUkrinform, she said that she received her first award, the Medal for Courage, posthumously. During one of her missions, she passed on the location of a German factory, and on her way back from the front line, she came under fire. She was found covered with earth in a crater.
Tverdokhlebova celebrated the victory in World War II in Berlin, where she signed her name on the Brandenburg Gate.
She asked to go to the front as a sniper to fight against the Russians.
In the first days of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Tverdokhlebova came to the military enlistment office and asked to be recruited as a sniper to fight against the Russians.
“I can still go and do some good. But they asked me: “How old are you?”. I said: ‘In two years I will be a hundred,'” the woman said.
The Vinnytsia regional police added that on her 101st birthday, Tverdokhlebova wished Ukraine victory in the war.
