22 August 09:33

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) has searched the homes of a number of employees of the Security Service of Ukraine who are suspected of passing information about the Ukrnafta investigation to Ihor Kolomoisky’s entourage. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to ZN.UA

According to law enforcement sources, the basis for the searches was information obtained from the phone of businessman Bohdan Yakymets, which was seized in February during searches at the IQ business center.

on August 13, the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) issued a warrant to NABU to conduct searches. Among the defendants is Pavlo Dudar, head of one of the SBU departments.

The role of Bohdan Yakymets

According to ZN.UA, businessman Bohdan Yakymets is considered an important person in the context of solving problems that big business and individual officials and politicians have with law enforcement agencies.

Yakymets was an “informal assistant” to the former head of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, Nazar Kholodnytskyi, but now, according to the source, Yakymets is a contact person between Kolomoiskyi and the SBU leadership with the permission of Bankova Street. According to ZN.UA, it was Yakimets who once brought Hennadiy Boholyubov to talk to the SBU leadership.

According to the source, Yakymets’s phone contained his correspondence with several SBU officers, including the head of one of the SBU departments, Pavlo Dudar, who has access to Ihor Kolomoisky’s case against Ukrnafta and Ukrtatnafta.

The case also involves Ihor Kolomoisky’s partner, Hennadiy Boholyubov, who illegally left Ukraine using another person’s passport.

As you know, SBU Head Vasyl Malyuk and Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko accused NABU detectives of assisting Boholyubov in fleeing Ukraine at a well-known briefing.

Conflict between the NABU and the SBU

The NABU searches of SBU employees take place against the backdrop of an escalating conflict between the two agencies. Earlier, the SBU and the Prosecutor General’s Office accused several NABU employees of collaborating with Russia, including Ruslan Magomedrasulov, who was investigating the case of Bohdan Yakymets. According to the detective, as a result, the SBU gained access to all the cases he was investigating. This includes the case of Bohdan Yakymets’ escape from Ukraine.

In addition, the SBU initiated an inspection of the NABU and the SAPO, gaining access to the materials of covert investigations.

In a comment to ZN.UA, SAPO Head Oleksandr Klymenko emphasized that individuals are currently being pressured to confirm the version of Russian influence in the NABU. According to him, after the searches, a significant part of the investigations was actually paralyzed, as employees became more cautious in their work.

Context of the case

Ihor Kolomoisky is currently in the SBU pre-trial detention center. Earlier it was reported that it was Bohdan Yakymets who organized meetings between him, his partners and the SBU leadership.
