Cybercriminals have sent out messages to Ukrainians on behalf of Nova Poshta about their debts to the company. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the company’s press service.
“This morning, cybercriminals sent out fake messages to Ukrainians about alleged debts to Nova Poshta. Please note that these letters have nothing to do with Nova Poshta,” the company said in a statement.
The postal operator explained that the attackers use trust in well-known brands and manipulate sensitive information – in this case, they claim to have a debt.
“The company’s cybersecurity unit is already working on blocking the network of servers from which the mailings are sent,” the company’s press service assured.
NP also reminded Ukrainians of the basic rules of cybersecurity:
1.Check the sender’s address. Original letters from Nova Poshta come only from official domains. Pay attention to suspicious changes in spelling.
2.Do not open emails from unfamiliar senders and do not click on links.
3.If a person has opened an email or attachment, they should immediately change passwords on their personal accounts and check for other active sessions. If suspicious activity is detected, you should terminate all unknown sessions through the security settings of your personal accounts.
4.Enable two-factor authentication for email to protect your account from unauthorized access.
5.If a person receives a fake email from an “NP”, they should move it to the Spam category and delete it. This will help reduce the risk of repeated emails and protect other users.
