Klitschko calls on German Chancellor to supply Ukraine with TAURUS missiles

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko hopes for further military assistance from Germany in defending against a full-scale military aggression against Ukraine.
In a guest article published by the Bild am Sonntag newspaper on Sunday, July 6, he called on German Chancellor Friedrich Merz to finally supply Ukraine with TAURUS cruise missiles.
This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to DW.
Klitschko called on Merz to keep his word
“Chancellor Friedrich Merz has rightly stated in the past that continuous Russian attacks on civilian targets should lead to the delivery of TAURUS missiles. We hope that the new German government will keep its word,” the Kyiv mayor wrote in an article for Bild.
Klitschko called the military aggression unleashed by Russian President Vladimir Putin against his country “pure terror” that is becoming more extreme every night.
According to the Kyiv mayor, Putin has made it very clear that he wants neither a ceasefire, nor peace, nor an end to the war.
“Putin’s goal is absolutely clear. He wants to put all of Ukraine under his control, no matter what it takes. And if we don’t stop him in Ukraine together, he will then invade other countries,” Klitschko said.
Merz spoke in favor of supplying TAURUS to Ukraine
Merz’s predecessor as head of the German government, Olaf Scholz, has repeatedly refused to supply Kyiv with long-range TAURUS missiles capable of destroying military targets in Russia at a great distance from the border. In turn, Merz spoke in favor of deliveries “in coordination with European partners” and pointed out that in this case, several months of training for Ukrainian military personnel would be required.
Earlier, as opposition leader, Merz called on the Scholz government to provide Kyiv with TAURUS and criticized what he considered insufficient and slow supplies of German ammunition to Ukraine.
