Former head of Ukrzaliznytsia Wojciech Balczun becomes minister in Poland

On July 23, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced changes in the government. Wojciech Balczun, a Polish manager and rock musician who chaired the board of Ukrzaliznytsia in 2016-2017, has been appointed Minister of State Property of Poland.
This was reported by the Polish news agency PAP, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
Prior to his appointment, Balchun held a number of senior positions at PKO Bank Polski, the Poczta Polska postal service, and the supervisory board of Inteligo Financial Services. From 2005 to 2007, he chaired the Supervisory Board of Polish State Railways (PKP) and later the Management Board of PKP, where he was in charge of the company’s restructuring. He was also a member of the management of LOT Airlines and a number of business associations.
In 2016, Balchun won the competition for the post of chairman of Ukrzaliznytsia, but left the company the following year.
In addition to his managerial experience, Balchun is known as the leader of the rock band Chemia, in which he plays guitar.
