Ruslan Damentsov and Orest Mandziy have advanced to the final round of the competition for the position of head of the State Customs Service. Their candidacies were supported by a majority of the selection committee members.

This was announced during the live broadcast of the commission’s meeting on the competition for the position of head of the State Customs Service on the Cabinet of Ministers’ YouTube channel, reports "Komersant Ukrainian".

Four out of six commission members, including three foreign representatives, supported the candidacies of Damentsov and Mandziy. A total of 16 candidates participated in the competition. After determining the finalists, the commission is to recommend both candidates to the Minister of Finance for further appointment to the position of head of the State Customs Service.

The Anti-Corruption Action Center reports that both candidates are employees of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU).

The competition for the position of head of customs is being held as part of the customs service reform and the restructuring of the agency’s leadership. The procedure involves a selection committee composed of Ukrainian and international experts.

This selection format was introduced to increase the transparency of the customs service’s operations, strengthen the fight against corruption, and fulfill Ukraine’s commitments to its international partners. The final decision on the appointment of the head of the State Customs Service is made by the Cabinet of Ministers upon the recommendation of the Minister of Finance.
