Elon Musk’s xAI company presents super-fast AI model Grok 4 Fast

Elon Musk-founded xAI has announced the release of Grok 4 Fast, a new version of its flagship AI model that is positioned as a faster and more cost-effective alternative to Grok 4. This was reported by Engadget, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
According to xAI, Grok 4 Fast demonstrates the same accuracy while using 40% fewer computing tokens. This key improvement reduces the cost of query execution by about 98% compared to the original model, making it much more affordable for a wide range of tasks.
Grok 4 Fast is based on an innovative architecture that combines in-depth analysis (reasoning) and fast response (non-reasoning) modes. This approach, similar to the OpenAI (GPT-5) and Anthropic (Claude Opus) strategies, allows the model to automatically switch between in-depth reasoning and rapid response generation. Thanks to this, Grok 4 Fast was ranked first in LMArena’s ranking for search tasks and eighth in terms of textual response quality, showing results on real benchmarks that are comparable or superior to its predecessor.
One of the main technical features of the new model is support for a context window of up to two million tokens, which significantly expands its ability to process and analyze large amounts of information. The model has been trained using reinforcement learning methods and is optimized for fast interaction with external tools such as code execution or web search.
Grok 4 Fast is already available to end users via the OpenRouter and Vercel AI Gateway platforms, as well as the xAI API for web, iOS, and Android applications. The cost of working with the model starts at $0.20 per million tokens.
