Kostiuk and Svitolina reach the third round of the US Open: introduction of rivals

Ukrainian tennis players Marta Kostiuk and Elina Svitolina have reached the third round of the US Open-2024, reports "Komersant Ukrainian".
the 19-year-old Marta Kostiuk confidently defeated the British Harriet Dart with a score of 7:6 (12:10), 6:1. The match lasted 1 hour and 36 minutes. Kostiuk demonstrated a strong game, making 5 aces and converting 4 out of 10 break points. With this result, Marta repeated her best performance at the US Open, reaching the third round.
Elina Svitolina showed an equally impressive result, defeating her compatriot Angelina Kalinina in the second round with a score of 6-1, 6-2. This was Svitolina’s third victory over Kalinina. It is worth noting that Elina has an impeccable record in matches against Ukrainian women at Grand Slam tournaments, having won all four meetings.
In the next round, Kostiuk will face Emma Navarro, while Svitolina will meet the current tournament champion Coco Goff. Both matches are scheduled for 18:00 on 30 August.
Emma Navarro
Emma Navarro is a 23-year-old American tennis player who was born in New York City and raised in Charleston, South Carolina. She attended the University of Virginia, where she studied arts and sciences and played varsity tennis. Navarro achieved significant success in junior tennis, becoming the 2021 NCAA singles champion during her freshman year. She was also a finalist at the Australian Open junior doubles tournament in 2019 and the Roland Garros junior doubles champion the same year.
