The Solotvyno checkpoint introduces restrictions for cars: how to travel to Romania

16 February 09:31

From February 16, 2026, traffic will be temporarily restricted at the Ukrainian-Romanian border crossing point “Solotvyno-Sighetu-Marmatiei.” The reason is the reconstruction of the bridge over the Tisa River. This was reported by the Western Regional Administration of the State Border Service of Ukraine, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

When will the restrictions be in effect?

Due to the emergency condition of the bridge, the movement of passenger cars and trucks will be suspended according to the following schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • for approximately 47 days.

During this seven-hour period, vehicles will not be processed. Drivers are advised to plan to cross the border either before 9 a.m. or after 4 p.m.

Who is not affected by the restrictions

Pedestrians can cross the border as usual — the bridge is open for them 24 hours a day.

On weekends, i.e. on Saturdays and Sundays, the checkpoint will operate as usual without daytime breaks.

Alternative routes

Those who do not want to wait for the completion of repair work or cannot adjust to the new schedule are advised to use other checkpoints:

  • Dyakove – Halmeu — for passenger cars and trucks in Zakarpattia Oblast
  • Porubne – Siret – one of the largest checkpoints in Chernivtsi region.

Border guards urge drivers to take these changes into account when planning trips to Romania in order to avoid queues and delays.
