The countries of the “Peace Council” will announce the allocation of more than $5 billion for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip. This was written by US President Donald Trump on the social network Truth Social, reports "Komersant Ukrainian".
The first meeting of the association will take place on February 19 in Washington. The head of the White House said that member countries are “ready to send thousands of troops” to “maintain peace and security” in Gaza.
On January 16, Trump announced the formation of a “Peace Council.” The American leader invited representatives of the European Commission and more than 50 countries, including Ukraine, Russia, and China, to participate in the Peace Council.
Although the organization was initially called the “Gaza Peace Council,” it later became known that the powers of the new international body would extend beyond the Palestinian enclave.
European leaders, in turn, reacted to Trump’s proposals with a great deal of skepticism. Bloomberg reported that European countries are working to change the terms of the Peace Council and are seeking to persuade Arab countries to also influence Trump to make adjustments.
