Kyiv residents urged to stock up on water: advice from city authorities
11 February 22:33
In Kyiv, residents and visitors to the capital were urged to check and, if necessary, replenish their water supplies due to the threat of new massive attacks by Russia and difficult weather conditions. The relevant appeal was published by the press service of the Kyiv City State Administration, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
The Kyiv City State Administration emphasized that the capital is experiencing one of the most difficult heating periods since the start of the full-scale war. Due to persistently low air temperatures and the risk of new attacks on energy infrastructure, there is a possibility of interruptions in water and heat supply.
“Kyiv is resisting the enemy during one of the most difficult heating periods. As long as the air temperature remains low, there is a risk of new enemy attacks. We urge Kyiv residents to check and, if necessary, replenish their water supplies — both drinking and technical,” the city administration said.
What water reserves are recommended by the Kyiv City State Administration
The administration reminded residents of the recommended daily water intake per person:
- 3 liters of drinking water;
- 10–12 liters of technical water for hygiene and cooking.
Thus, each household should have a water reserve for at least several days of autonomous use.
The energy system is operating in enhanced mode
The Kyiv City State Administration assured that utility services and energy companies are working around the clock in the capital. At the same time, the situation remains tense.
On February 8, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the situation with electricity and heating in Kyiv is one of the most difficult in Ukraine.
On February 10, Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal said that due to abnormal cold weather, Ukraine’s energy system is operating in enhanced mode.
The city authorities are calling on Kyiv residents to take the recommendations seriously and prepare in advance for possible interruptions in water supply.
