Kyivans vs Zelensky: Who the capital sees as the next president of Ukraine
28 August 20:58
If the presidential election were held this Sunday, General Valeriy Zaluzhnyi would win in the second round. This is according to a sociological survey conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology among Kyiv residents, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
71% of respondents would vote for Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, and 28.9% of Kyiv residents would vote for the current president, Volodymyr Zelenskyi.
Sociologists explain: “Kyiv has always been a strategic electoral center. A defeat here would mean a symbolic blow to the president’s position-a signal that even in the heart of the country, confidence in his policies is declining significantly.
Instead, Zaluzhnyi is rapidly becoming a new “center of gravity” for the protest electorate. This forms an alternative pole that will be difficult for the current leader of the country, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, to ignore.
